Wild Plants Photos

Lewisia pygmaea from the slopes above Tioga Pass near Yosemite National Park.

The Sierra Plants Project will produce a new photographic guidebook to the wildflowers and flowering shrubs of the Sierra Nevada, California's biggest mountain range. The author will be Joanna Clines, Forest Botanist for Sierra National Forest, and the primary photographer is Stephen Sharnoff. We anticipate that it will illustrate approximately 750 species of flowers and shrubs with color photographs and will cover the entire range including the foothills. Voucher specimens were collected for almost every photograph, and they have been deposited in the Jepson Herbarium at the University of California Berkeley.

The photographs taken for this project are not being offered for other uses at this time except by special arrangement.
